Cruise on "Pride of Bilbao"
FRIDAY 18TH JULY Coach to Portsmouth and board the 37,500 tons "Pride of Bilbao" for two nights cruise to Bilbao. This will be a wonderful start to our pilgrimage. All twin cabins with private facilities.
SATURDAY 19TH JULY Time to enjoy all the facilities of this ship.
Relax and unwind. Mass will be celebrated.
SUNDAY 20TH JULY Early morning arrival in Bilbao. We journey across "green Spain" in to Portugal enjoying the wonderful scenery and arrive early evening in FATIMA. Mass will be celebrated.
MONDAY 21ST JULY Mass will be celebrated and we will have time to visit the Sanctuary, the Basilica, the Shrine. During the afternoon we will visit Aljustrel - the village of Jacinta, Francesco and Lucia, and follow the Stations of the Cross given by the Hungarian Refugees.
TUESDAY 22ND JULY We will spend the morning in the sanctuary and after lunch an there will be an optional outing during which we will absorb something of the culture of Portugal and visit Batalha and the beautiful Atlantic fishing village of Nazare.
WEDNESDAY 23RD JULY Today we journey north, along the coast of Portugal, and pass by Porto and cross into Spain near Vigo, the largest natural harbour in Europe. Again this is a lovely and interesting journey and will arrive at Santiago de Compostela the traditional burial place of St James and one of the oldest places of Christian pilgrimage for our evening meal.
THURSDAY 24TH JULY A full day in Compostela with a guided tour in the morning will help us to visit many places of interest in this ancient place of pilgrimage. Free afternoon. Evening vigil festivities.
FRIDAY 25TH JULY The feast of the St James, the Patron of Spain, is celebrated in style in Compostela. During the procession before mass the great thurible is swung - an event not to be missed. In the afternoon our journey will take us across the great plains of Spain and eventually to Burgos - the city of "El Cid" fame and we will arrive in time for evening meal.
SATURDAY 26TH JULY Morning drive to Bilbao to board "Pride of Bilbao" for the 13.15 P.O. cruise back to Portsmouth. Relax and enjoy all the facilities. Mass will be celebrated.
SUNDAY 26TH JULY Arrive Portsmouth 5.15 pm and travel by coach to our departure points and the north of England.
