mcoleman117@hotmail.co.uk http://www.maristway.org Dear Friends Despite the most unpromising weather a goodly number of people gathered for in Walsingham on Saturday 5th July for the MARIST DAY. Fr Keith Tullock SM spoke of the relationship between the Marist priests and people in Japan and reminded us that Mary, the Mother of Reconciliation, works through each and everyone of us. The mass was celebrated in a somewhat crowded Chapel of Reconciliation and the rain during mass proved this to be a very wise decision. Some people from the Congo, who live in Hull parish, joined the day and after mass the rain had abated sufficiently or the traditional picnics to take place despite some rather wet ground.
MARIST SISTERS Invite everyone to celebrate with them the arrival of the Sisters in St Anne’s, Whitechapel in 1858. A mass of Thanksgiving will be celebrated at 12 noon on Wednesday 23rd July – the very time the Sisters arrived – in St Anne’s, Underwood Road, LONDON E1, followed by refreshments. If you wish to attend please contact Sr Brigid 01302 329783.
DAYS OF RECOLLECTION Some progress has been made with the following arrangements:- Middlesbrough, Sept 21st, Goldthorpe, Sept 28th, London (Upper Holloway) Oct 5th, Walsingham either Sat, Oct 4th or Monday Oct 6th. The theme this year will be Jean-Claude Colin SM, Founder of the Marist Fathers. PowerPoint presentations will be given along with some reflections on the Marist Spirit and Charism. Final details will be sent at beginning of September.
FORMATION for Marist Way Leaders and another member of each group are invited to a time of "Formation" 3rd / 5th December 2008 in Walsingham. This is part of our ongoing work to promote the work and spirituality of Mary in the Church. Before we commit ourselves to booking we need to be sure that members are interested. All Groups are invited to participate. Please respond to Council for the Marist Way, 15 Daleston Ave., Middlesbrough, TS5 5PA or telephone 01642 817504. So far there has been NO response to this. Please remember that the MARIST WAY concerns YOU!!! DUBLIN MEETING OF Eurpoean Delegates. (Interim report)Initially we established that Michel had called the meeting and decided on the venue. He was under some pressure from the Fathers General House to assist in organising a Lay delegation to attend Rome in September 2009. This was at the behest of Father Hulshof, to coincide with the Fathers’ general meeting and to promote the Lay Marist movement. The second and third sessions Formation (Ireland) (called training in some places) and Spirituality (England) were listed as separate subjects for discussion but we agreed that they could not be separated. Again there were a variety of styles and methods that we shared and each would continue. The main point is that we all understand the history, motivation and dedication of the Founders’ and share that with others, in order that the vision of Jean Claude Colin should be kept alive in the world today. Ireland will be responsible for collating a Bibliography from information sent to Eileen. It was agreed that "A Certain Way" is an excellent resource and where possible will be translated into the various languages. Finally Father Raphaele spoke of the Sept 2009 meeting in Rome. It is hoped to have 18 lay Marists there for two days to work closely with the Marist Fathers. The number had been decided because of the limited accommodation available. It is intended to encourage the life of Lay Marists throughout the world, fostering collaboration and mutual support in Marist Mission and working towards an international network for Lay Marists to stimulate collaboration and support in Formation for all groups. The 18 would be 6 from the Pacific area (Aus., NZ. Oceania, Asia) 6 from Europe and Africa 6 from The Americas. Official minutes will be published on Website Marist Liturgical Calendar and Mass Intentions 2008
