 Dear Friends

This will be the last Newsletter before the summer break and the start of a ‘new’ year. After the dismal exit from the World Cup of the England team our hopes of sporting success rest of the admirable shoulders of that noble Scot, Andy Murray, at Wimbledon. The Marist Day in Walsingham will be on Saturday 3rd July and it is always a most enjoyable day with the opportunity to absorb something of the spirit of Nazareth, meet together and return home renewed. By September the European Province of the Marist Fathers will be two years old and starting to take on some shape.

SWANWICK CONFERENCE There has been a reasonable response so far. Do please make a note in your diary – Friday 17th / Sunday 19th September 2010, Sr Monica SM, a Marist Sister, will be the keynote speaker for the conference "The Marist Message for Today" Cost will be £150.00 per person. 34TH MARIST LOURDES PILGRIMAGE

On Saturday 29th May the 34th Marist Pilgrimage set off for Lourdes and there were groups from Middlesbrough, Hull, York, Sheffield, Loughborough, Sidcup and some individuals from Bridlington, Driffield and Thames Ditton. The journey south was very exciting as the people joined the coaches at the various stopping places and many old friendships were renewed. Amazingly within the group three couples were celebrating their 40th, 50th and 60th wedding anniversaries for which we offered mass in the Parish Church. Fr Noel Wynn was the principal celebrant in Bartres on Thursday 3rd June, which used to be the feast of Corpus Christi, the very day on which Ste Bernadette made her First Holy Communion in 1858.

The Marist Banner in the Torchlight Procession attracted a number of visitors to our group. The weather was great and this proved to be a great occasion.
