Dear Friends
I did not have many spare days before I set off by air to
Fatima, Compostela and Porto. On the morning of my departure from Hull,
Friday 9th August, I was shocked to learn of the death of Fr Tony
Skillen SM in Sidcup. He will be a great loss to our Region and was buried
in Sidcup on Friday 29th August. May Tony rest in peace. Amen
They say things come in threes. Well they do. Tom, the seventeen years old son of my coach driver to Lourdes was killed in a road crash on Wednesday 27th August and so I was involved in the funeral and, hopefully, was able to bring some consolation in this very sad bereavement. May Tom rest in peace. Amen
DAYS OF RECOLLECTION Progress has been made with the following arrangements :- Middlesbrough Sunday Sept 21st; Goldthorpe Sunday Sept 28th; London (Upper Holloway) Sunday Oct 5th; Walsingham Monday Oct 6th. The day will begin with coffee at 11.00. The theme this year will be Jean-Claude Colin SM, Founder of the Marist Fathers. PowerPoint presentations will be given along with some reflections on the Marist Spirit and Charism. Mass will be celebrated about 3.30pm. Tea will be about 4.30pm. Cost will be ₤6.00 per person.
FORMATION for Marist Way
Leaders and another member of each group are invited to a time of "Formation" 3rd / 5th December 2008 in Walsingham. This is part of our ongoing work to promote the work and spirituality of Mary in the Church. Before we commit ourselves to booking we need to be sure that members are interested. All Groups are invited to participate. Please respond to Council for the Marist Way, 15 Daleston Ave., Middlesbrough, TS5 5PA or telephone 01642 817504. Recently there has been a very positive response and we are happy that this initiative will proceed. Further details later. It is very gratifying to realise that the MARIST WAY does concern YOU!!!
